As you can see, this is not a formal academic gathering, but a symposium which may be the basis of a future and perhaps more comprehensive conference. The symposium will hopefully serve as a means for komiks artists, writers, historians, and literary scholars and critics to exchange views and opinions about komiks and the komiks industry. The organizers have tried to keep the program as flexible as possible to accommodate the open nature of this exchange. Except for the opening track, which will delve into the history of komiks and its place in Filipino popular culture, the afternoon sessions are not structured as critical presentations but as discussions. Papers will not be read so--as per the questions of several guests--please do not feel pressured to come up with abstracts or Power Point slides. At least not for this particular symposium. ;)
