We can't afford to be sloppy this time, top billing kayong dalawa ni Fermin.

Pero I must say, that cover is very boring. I know you've said that it's not the final one, but I think you should scrap that look altogether and think of other designs. :)

Yup, merong pang-world class tayong makukuha na gagawa ng cover courtesy of Auggie. Sana nga lang ay mapagbigyan niya tayo :)

Iba ang illustration sa graphic design. Magaling na artist si Lan Medina, pero illustration is only a tool for a graphic designer.

Rob,

Ang graphic design eh over-all concept, comprising of typography, illustration, use of paper stock, layout, photography, printing, etc.Ang over-all look ang concern niya. Ang prime consideration niya eh effective visual communication at aesthetics, in other words, it should be easy on the eyes, saka ang dating professional at sophisticated.

Auggie (ikaw yan ano?),

Wala akong kilala sa mga graphic designers. Hindi ko naaral yan... but I've always had an eye for good graphic design. I've had to do some myself when I was in high school working on several year book covers and layout. In college I routinely designed posters for plays and events (and also illustrated).

Nakakalungkot dahil halos lahat ng mga local books natin have poorly designed covers. Except maybe for the expensive coffee-table books.

Siguro exposure at experience yung kulang ng maraming illustrators-- diba "to a hammer, every problem looks like a nail".

Rob,

oo nga, but stock illustrations from Lan wouldn't hurt.

Off the top of my head na top Philippine-based Graphic Designers: Team Manila, Inksurge , and Drew Europeo. (kaso lang more on photography sila, pero they've won big design competitions na.)

I'd like to see Lan Medina stock illustrations worked on by Inksurge pero ang laki ng gagastusin para mangyari yun hahaha.

Naisip ko si Lan kasi siya, along with Dell Barras, ay komikero from the old Komiks na nag-trabaho for US comics, tas bumalik at gumawa dito para sa lalabas na Komiks sa September. Instant credibility from local and international perspectives in my opinion.
